This drill needs a keyboard and mouse, like CS2. Open it on your PC.
Hold A or D until you reach full speed. Let go, tap the other key, and click or press Enter to fire once the speed drops under the line.

How it's measured
Your key presses run through CS2's ground movement: its default sv_accelerate 5.5, sv_friction 5.2 and sv_stopspeed 80, with Source's friction and acceleration rules, in 1 ms steps timed by your browser's key events. A shot is accurate below 34% of the rifle's top speed, the rule JumpThrow uses for counter-strafing in your demos. Replaying 580 recorded rifle stops from 18 demos through it matched their speed within 4 u/s at the median.
Counter gap is when the other key went down minus when you let go; negative means both keys were down together. A clean rep has a gap from −10 to 30 ms and fires once accurate. Sessions are 20 reps and the last 20 stay in this browser.
Counter-Strafe Trainer
How CS2 stops you, and how this trainer measures it.
What is counter-strafing in CS2?
Tapping the opposite movement key as you let go of the one you are holding. The tap cancels your speed faster than letting friction stop you, so your first shot is accurate sooner.
What is counter-strafing in CS2?
Tapping the opposite movement key as you let go of the one you are holding. The tap cancels your speed faster than letting friction stop you, so your first shot is accurate sooner.
How long does it take to stop in CS2?
From full running speed with a rifle, a counter tap as you let go makes you accurate in about 75 milliseconds. Letting go without one takes about 207. It is the same for every rifle, because the accurate speed and how hard you can brake both scale with the rifle’s top speed.
When does the trainer count a shot as accurate?
When you are below 34% of your rifle’s top speed: 73.1 units per second for the AK-47. JumpThrow uses the same rule when it counts counter-strafed shots in your demos, so the drill and your match stats mean the same thing.
Is the movement the same as in CS2?
It uses CS2’s movement settings and Source’s friction and acceleration rules. We replayed the recorded key presses of 580 rifle stops from 18 real demos through it: the median error was under 4 units per second, and it found the tick each stop became accurate within one tick 98% of the time.
What counts as a clean counter-strafe?
A counter tap from 10 milliseconds before you let go to 30 after, then firing once you are accurate. Inside that window a stop takes at most about 15 milliseconds longer than a perfect one.
Does my keyboard change the result?
Yes, slightly. The trainer times each press when your browser receives it, so your keyboard’s actuation point and scan rate are included. Rapid-trigger keyboards release sooner. Compare sessions on the same keyboard.
